Methodology

With 60 Years of evolution in manufacturing with many thousands of product life cycle programs under our belt, ABLE embraces proven methodologies to remain a leader in today's competitive world market.

Engineering, Procurement, Resource Management

ABLE's team has the tools, training and experience to execute a broad range of composite, metal fabrications and assembly processes:

Product Design Engineering
Design FEMA
Assembly
Point to Point Wiring
Painting
Pattern and Mold Tooling
Fixtures
Program Management
Procurement Services
Inventory Management
MRP and ERP Business Systems
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)

From product design, FMEA, VA/VE review to mass production and on-going refinement, ABLE's technical support team remains engaged throughout the product life cycle. We accept customer design data from all common formats - Pro-Engineer, Solidworks, CATIA, Autocad, 3D IGES/STEP/STL, 2D DWG/DXF/PDF - even a hand sketch. Our team can provide the final design for manufacture, prototypes, and production in-house built tooling, molds and fixtures.

ABLE has integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Materials Resource Planning (MRP) tools to support the large scope and Bill of Materials typically found in many of the products we manufacture. Our purchasing and procurement specialists work closely with our global supplier base, including international travel to maintain consistent supplier performance and good working relations.

Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE)

Our cross functional teams work with customers and suppliers to optimize the product program for design, tooling, supply chain, production and delivery for common goals:

Reduce cost
Reduce lead time
Improve quality
Improve customer relations
Improve supplier relations
Improve profitability

We apply VA/VE methods to both New Product and select Existing Product programs.

Lean Manufacturing & Just In Time (JIT)

The challenge of meeting cost, quality and delivery goals have moved ABLE to implement LEAN manufacturing across its entire operations at Plant 1, 2 and 3. Numerous line-side and supplier initiatives continue to be undertaken by our operations and engineering teams.

Automation

ABLE has implemented robotics and automation to improve productivity, quality and safety for key repetitive operations. We utilize market leading GE FANUC robotics for composite lamination, numerous computer controlled resin mix dispensers, fiberglass dispensers and computer controlled GRACO paint mix and dispense systems.

Additionally, we have implemented numerous collector systems to reduce the levels of airborne particulate matter inherent to the manufacture of composite, and finish paint or gel coat products.

Quality

The international standard ISO 9001:2008 is maintained at all ABLE Plant sites. Our quality team includes Six Sigma Black and Green Belt certified specialists. ABLE has invested in 3D Coordinate Measuring Machines capable of both touch type and laser scanning backed by sophisticated surfacing and inspection software that allows our quality team to efficiently and accurately monitor the dimensional accuracy of our finish work product, molds, tooling and fixtures.

Inspection

From Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) to PPAP Level 5 to After Sale Warranty Support, ABLE provides the full complement of know-how and execution to meet the most stringent customer demands.

Continuous Improvement & Kaizen

Continuous Improvement and KAIZEN team initiatives demonstrate our commitment to our customers, our suppliers and our employees to maintain a strong and healthy company for many years to come. As seen on our ABOUT page and CEO & family owner Dan Hillenbrand's video, we don't rest on our laurels and continue to innovate and improve to remain a leading manufacturer in our market.
